With the proposals themselves, all of them were received after only a few days, but most were quite generic, no doubt because they hadn’t viewed the property in person. The lead times quoted were also two weeks or more, with our lead time being only a week for this particular project, and of all the companies that quoted, other than us, only one of them followed up with the customer.
Our price, at 0.56% of the sales value, was the lowest quote, nearly 63% cheaper than the most expensive quote, 1.35% of sales value. Whilst they offered the customer a high quality product, they ‘over-specified’ quoting for a product that we would typically use for a £10 million house. Whilst we could deliver a similar product to this level, and at a similar price, we would never suggest such a high spec for a £2.5 million property. We always look to deliver a scheme which is between 0.5% and 1% of the sale value. There was a quote of a similar level to ours, but the quality of furniture and accessories were not of a high enough standard.
