Big Issue fundraising target smashed

In the lead up to Christmas and over the holiday period, the staff at David Phillips raised money for The Big Issue Foundation - our charity of choice for 2014.
Employees kindly donated supplier Christmas gifts to a raffle and individual departments came up with imaginative ways to cut back on luxuries in order to donate the savings to The Foundation. Many also chose to make additional donations online.
We are pleased to say that all of our fundraising targets were achieved. In total, we were able to raise £1,844 - smashing our £1,000 target.
Commenting, Nicholas Gill, CEO at David Phillips said: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our employees for helping to raise money for those less fortunate than themselves - offering their support to this important cause. Giving isn't just for Christmas and we would like to remind our customers and staff alike that you can continue to support us in donating to The Big Issue Foundation during the course of the year."
Kathryn Drake, Head of Corporate and Community Fundraising at The Big Issue Foundation said: "The Big Issue Foundation is a small charity supporting the vendors of the well-known Big Issue magazine. We rely on voluntary donations, so we are delighted about this partnership with David Phillips, and really grateful for the generosity of the team. Thanks to these donations we will be able to support eight vendors to take positive steps in their housing, health, financial management or aspirations as they journey away from the streets in 2014. We're looking forward to being able to support many more through the year thanks to the partnership."
